During a cultic celebration in 1979, Dr. Weiglein was adopted by Egidius Soter, the tribal leader of the Beriten Asmat. Since that day, he carries the name “Emenji", which means "the one who is coming with the many heads". |

Dr. Werner Weiglein is married and has two children. Together with his family he lives in the princely Palais in Meerholz, a district of the city of Gelnhausen, Hessen. Dr. Weiglein is an urologist and general practitioner with additional qualifications in sports medicine and tropical medicine. He was working at a hospital for ten years. Travelling is his great passion. He even went to Afghanistan and India as a 16-year-old pupil. In 1982 he took part in the Camel-Trophy in Papua New Guinea. Subsequently he worked actively with the Camel-Trophy-Team. Since 1979 he is mainly interested in the oceanic cultures, particularly in Papua, the Indonesian part of the island of New Guinea. Up to the present day, he has led about 200 expeditions to Papua and the Salomon Islands. Many publications in specialized press and books ensued his journeys. Dr. Weiglein is co-author of Heinrich Harrer and Dieter Kronzucker. He likewise contributed to the realization of about 15 TV-productions in China, Namibia, and particularly in Papua/Indonesia. Dr. Werner Weiglein is chairman of the German-Indonesian society in Frankfurt. By the edict of the Indonesian President of State he disposes of the right of residence for life in Indonesia. His cardinal matter of concern is the qualified enlargement of eco-tourism in Papua and Mongolia. As a co-founder of the Pt. Indonesia German Bersatu company in Jayapura/Papua/Indonesia as well as of the firm Khans of Steppe Ltd. in Ulaanbaatar/Mongolia, he made a major contribution to the development of these regions for future tourism.
